It's tricky to have different point of view than that when you by default are called an

idiot.

There could be reasons like attitude, natural player development, relationships with manager/players etc that make him s**t, but then come good later. Though sometimes it could be the club. Or the manager to likely be more precise.

And it's spelt ideot by the way.
