It's a measure of performance, nothing more.

Based on averages of players compiled over time, in similar (not identical) situations. You can draw multiple conclusions from it, sometimes contradicting ones. It can be interesting, yet simultaneously boring, and illuminating while stating the obvious. It's just a way of reflecting on a team's performance at a given time, against a specific opposition.

Why does it have to be "useful"? Who said it was a prediction? Why are you creating an argument about it?

FWIW, I quite enjoy the discussion, but it seems to be a mutating, evolving debate with moveable goalposts, which makes it difficult to know if you're being serious or not. And yes, I do know you consider yourself to be playing a role, again, I know not why, but whatever.
