If you come to Reading, avoid the following areas: Calcot, Southcote, Whitley Wood and Coley Park.

The best parts of Reading are: Tilehurst, Caversham and anywhere with a low crime rate.

Like Snowman said, house prices are dictated on the quality of the area and I'll happily admit now that some of more pleasent areas of Reading such as Tilehurst can be quite expensive.
