Still think he was lucky

I just read a useful synopsis of the trial from an online blog by a lawyer. Seems maybe mistakes were made by prosecutors(leaving change of charge to day of trial, rejected by judge. And not calling two witnesses (one the doorman of club)). Also mystery as to why Alex Hales avoided charge as his story didn't match the video evidence and he was seen stamping on someone.

But jury thought Stokes acted in self defence so that is that. Still quite amazed they got off. Which was my original point. Had that been your average Joe labourer they'd probably have gone down.
