Is that he'll work out the remainder of his notice period.

He made a statement that he'll help as much, or as little, in the coming months as needed.

His "rolling 12 month contract" could be a number of things, see link on the other reply.

We're all speculating (unless someone here drafted the contract) but the wording of what's been stated, could mean that he's gone by August.
