Narcís Pèlach to join as first-team coach...

Norwich City can confirm that Narcís Pèlach has joined David Wagner's backroom staff as first-team coach.

Pèlach joins the Canaries from Huddersfield Town, where he has worked as assistant coach since joining the Terriers in August 2020.

Beginning his playing career with Girona, Pèlach spent time playing in the Spanish fourth tier before retiring at the age of 25 to focus on coaching.

He spent time as head coach of both UE Figueres and Peralada, before returning to Girona as assistant coach. After the departure of manager Juan Carlos Unzué, Pèlach also left the club.

A move to Huddersfield then followed for Pèlach, as he joined Carlos Corberán's backroom staff.

He later stayed at the club after Corberán's resignation, and worked under Danny Schofield, Mark Fotheringham, and Neil Warnock during the course of the 2022/23 season.

The 34-year-old will be part of Wagner's backroom staff, joining Christoph Bühler, Andrew Hughes, and Ed Wootten.

On joining the club, Pèlach said: “I’m looking forward to working with the players and coaches at the club. For me, it’s a pleasure and great opportunity to work with the head coach, David, I have big respect for him. I think he is a top coach.

“My role will be analysing the opponents, find out what they are doing in attack and defence and then try to help him with the gameplan to face them, to prepare the team well.

“I can’t wait to start. For me, it’s a big, big opportunity to be a part of this amazing club. I’m looking forward to starting the season, and helping the team to compete and to win.”

Wagner said: "Narcís is someone who knows the league. He also has experience working in different roles and positions in many environments.

“He will form a key part of our coaching strategy and player development programmes, working closely with our existing coaching staff.

“On each occasion when I have spoken with Narcís over the last year we’ve had many good and interesting conversations about the game and different ways of working. I know he is an extremely hard worker, passionate about his job and has a good character.

“I’m delighted to be able to welcome him to our club.”
