The point is how do you break that cycle surely?

Maybe not forever but prolong the upper end of it.

Brighton, Brentford, Fulham and arguably Palace, Wolves and Leicester have been transformed longer term. Yes they may go down again if they have a sh*t season but they will not go back to the bottom end of their cycle again unless they screw things up hugely.

We had opportunities to break/prolong the cycle but on every occasion we have not been able to do so. Had we had greater resources we may have been able to by building a side around a player like Emi rather than selling him immediately after promotion. Or being able to afford to buy Skipp.

Nobody is saying have the club over to anyone with cash. Clearly it is right they are cautious and it appears in MA we may have someone suitable. But there is a difference between being cautious and being unreceptive to investment/unwilling to let go to the detriment of the club. I fear the damage is already done, even if they do now let go, because our opportunities may have passed.
