Not what we need

He always seems to be on the fringes of a match.
Does not demand the ball, seems a weak character. Compare him to Buendia, Cantwell, McLean from the second promotion season. They always wanted the ball and were constantly in the action. Just the same the Germans in the 2018/19 season.
That’s why we had so much of the ball and dominated possession. Dowell is too passive and is not involved for substantial parts of a match. He doesn’t hunt the ball down.
Watch the midfields of Burnley, Swansea, Sunderland, Sheffield United, West Brom, even Bristol City at Carrow Road- their midfield were always moving and available.
He doesn’t or can’t do that.
I repeat he is not what we need, a few neat touches won’t cut it if we want to challenge next season.
