This is the person who plays USAC on WOTB.
My original opinion was that Dean Smith was underperforming as a Manager.
I felt the players were better than the results and certainly better than the dire performances which eventually sacked him when he lost the crowd.
Like most people I was hopeful that David Wagner could change things around.
Like most people I was a bit sceptical because his last few jobs ended badly but because the football/results were so bad under Dean Smith I thought anything was worth a try.
Under both Managers we started pretty well but just fell off a cliff in terms of both performances and results.
A little part of me still thinks we have a decent enough squad to challenge the top 6 but to be totally fair that's probably just not true. The results/Performances don't lie.
For those calling for the head of Webber/Board I can totally understand where you are coming from.
I 100% agree with Connor where he points out the recent events of the club blaming the fans because we have been poor has to stop. It's unacceptable in any business.
My question is the same to those trying to get Delia out a few years ago.
What is the plan when that happens?
Now what?
That's a very important question.
Would you quit a job with no plan if you needed to pay some big bills soon.
I would also challenge people to look at the overall body of work.
The past two seasons have been dire without a shadow of a doubt.
The recruitment has not worked out and we have vastly more duds than winners.
Yet we did win the Champs twice and financially this has been one of the best periods in recent history.
The problem is when you are a self sufficient club it's hard to keep buying top players for next to nothing and selling them for a massive profit.
Eventually your luck runs out and you have a downturn.
This happens to clubs in the PL. They stay for a few years but find it hard to replace the players they sell to the big clubs and it often leads to relegation.
Even with Rich owners we would have to deal with FFP rules and risk getting points deducted like a few of the teams have.
When Webber came here we didn't have a pot to piss in and Sold Madison to fill the hole.
We are back at that spot, maybe not as big a hole but we really don't have much to spend. And it's clear we need replacements in several positions.
Do we stick with the sporting director model or go back to a chairman and manager model.
I just don't know.
Even though I don't really believe in luck I think having a great group of players that just clicks is a huge part of being successful.
You look at the huge list of managers who have success with one club doing this but have fallen flat at others.
You clearly can't bottle this formula.
My gut instinct is telling me Managers/coaches are not as important as we think they are.
Even the SD has to use publicly available data on players and find gems that bigger clubs have passed over.
Just think about that for one moment.
That's a really tough job period to outwit huge clubs with much more resources.
I don't have any answers just reasonable questions.
Here is the TLDR...
Fucked if I know?
