we didn't have severe financial issues when he left though

we had to sell a few players to be able to fund a rebuild, but there was more than enough value in the playing squad to do that comfortably.

Selling to be able to buy and rebuild is literally how clubs at our level will always operate. McNally left us in a position to do just that.
