is the ref accepting that an offence has happened but that the team offended against has the ball in better possession so play is allowed to continue - should the offence be worthy of a red or yellow card the referee will retoactively do that once play stops

play on means that no offence has occured and this was obviously not the case

That is two weeks running that the main thrust of ITV's post match interview has been to ignore the game cpompleteley and ask Henry , Boateng and Hasselbaink what their future plans are - amateur ish
