He would not have refused to play for us

Offer him a wage increase, tell him he’s staying right now as this season is too important for the club and he would have sulked for a bit then probably turned it on to earn a move.

Fact is our transfer strategy was built around selling him to raise cash and so it suited Webber to have him “refusing to play.”

Just as it was extremely convenient that model pro Jonny Howson refused to sign a contract and started playing up in training to force his dream move to Middlesboro when we needed a bit of cash previously.

This thread was not actually originally about whether selling Buendia was the right decision. It was about how we shouldn’t always believe the club line when it comes to departures. Especially the current one.
