I would expect that's illegal!

We are the ones who terminated the contract, you'd think the only enforceable elements would be performance related as stipulated at the outset of the contract.

You can't really give someone a fixed term contract, cancel it owing them money but then prevent them taking on new employment!

The Leicester job bears no relation to the contractual situation with Norwich.
