6 is probably their starting position to give them space for negotiation or to laugh all the way to the bank if some sportswashing organisation decides to pay it.

They are in a strong position where they don’t need to sell. Forbes valued them at 4.2bn USD last year so they’ll probably be hoping for an offer between that and their stated price. But crucially they are making a far healthier profit than any of the other most valuable clubs in the world.

They’re also one of if not the biggest club in the world in terms of brand value and history.

And the big question is - do the glazers really want to sell? If not then of course they’re going to ask for a huge price.
