I wanted us to play a high tempo, hell for leather style of football. Really going at teams with intensity, everything that the Smith era lacked. In my mind, Wagner played a style something like Lambert with a smidge of Farke - good, effective football, high energy, players running themselves into the ground, a bit more pragmatic than Farke.
We saw that to start with at PNE and Coventry, but it seems like that low tempo / nervous passing about at the back approach has crept back in.
Is that because Wagner actually prefers us to try and control games more? To try to reduce the number of chances we give away? Or is it a personnel issue?
This isn't a criticism of Wagner at all, I'm just trying to reconcile my expectations when he was appointed (which could well have been wrong and that is the end of the thread) with what I'm seeing. It's better than under Smith, but not that night and day transformation I hoped it could be (not yet at least).
