Is that holding midfielder being able to receive it in a tight spot, turn and go forward. For example, putting Tettey in there would absolutely not help us play out from the back!
Too often, and it’s not his natural position, Kenny either passes it back and to the defence, which puts us in an even tighter spot, or loses the ball. Or if not Kenny in that role (e.g. if he’s dropped between the CBs) then who ever else it is.
Skipp was so good at receiving it and getting it forwards, through the press, to Emi et al.
