if the Mail cannot make it work than no hope for others. And I don't think the EDP and EEN have a strong enough pull to attract subscribers... especially from the "younger" audience. The readership is basically just those who have had the habit for the last 30 years and they are dropping off. When I first started there the EEN was printed at 5 p.m. It is now printed before 9 a.m. - probably the stupidest move Archant made... and they made plenty. They've also cut off the chance to do the one thing that may have worked... a rolling multi edition free newspaper like The Standard, always available and updated regularlily over 24 hours - because they shut down the presses locally and it is now printed many miles away. Hey ho.
