With complex structures taking over where players need to keep tightly to a structure in order to tactically compete.
Remember when Lambert came upon against Brendan Rogers when we played Swansea away in the premier league in 2012 Swansea had done us over the previous year and played this (at the time unusual) approach of passing it out right from the back.
Lambert simply stood our attackers on each of their back line and their deep midfielder at every goal kick, they had to kick it long Ward or Whitbread won the headers and we then already had good numbers up top to attack, we scored 3 goals.
I mean it's so basic compared to what we see now. It couldn't even be called a press it was just having people on their men at goal kicks. Their playing out approach, quite new then, was so basic they couldn't even start to work out passing structures to go round it. Football has evolved a tonne, I'm not sure Shakespeare necessarily has.
