Friend said they were going but I got a ticket and cribbed up on Spotify. It was packed in there, 900 apparently, most my age and upwards so that was nice. It’s not a bad venue, good open space and funnily enough the only other gig I’d seen there was BJH, but that was seated.
Not being really into them I felt a bit like the songs blended into one another, and I found their stage presence teetering from the uber cool to the cant-be-arsed a bit. There were constant guitar changes between songs and retunes every time. At one time there were 6 guitars being played and I think 4 of them were 12 strings. A veritable wall of strumming. I need to watch the documentary DIG! To understand them a bit more, but I had be prepared about their onstage arguments which later emerged to pleasure of the audience. My mate said they were less than a sum of their parts, I know what he meant, but we enjoyed it. Had a great week last week (other than the footy) seeing all of my oldest and bestest friends at some stage.
