What I came away with yesterday was the time wasted by Deansmith to coach the team into

playing like a team, unlike Burnley who had that in spades. It’s possible that Burnley also have a better players than we do, but they clearly knew their tactics and their positions far better than we did. Many of us were saying four months we wanted to see a team identity and I’m pleased that that is what we are going for and I understand I will need to be patient before it is fully embedded.

So I do think you can blame Deansmith for the wasted time. There is no way David Wagner is able to completely rectify this in three weeks – it will take time.

I’m not sure why you think dropping Gunn is a worrying precedent. Tim Krul is also a good goalkeeper and I have no problem with him being picked and given a chance.
