You're missing my point completely

Of course Starbucks (and American coffee chains in general) are massively unpopular in Italy. They still fight over even opening them. The American (and British!) coffee culture (massively milky things in the afternoon for example...) is completely different and unfamiliar, and totally unwelcome there.

I wasn't talking about that - of course the Italians hate Starbucks, as everyone knows. I was talking about dark vs light roasts, bitter vs acid. Italian coffee is dark roast. Look it up anywhere, or ask anyone who knows about coffee. eg

And dark roasting - and the bitterness you get from that, which a lot of people here don't like - is what marks Starbucks out, vs pretty much any other high street coffee here.

nothing to do with whether Italians light Starbucks, which of course they don't.
