I think Zahawi’s position was impossible to defend

Why should the head of HMRC try and shield him?
Every person who doesn’t pay their correct share of tax is increasing the tax burden the rest of us in the middle have to shoulder.
The super rich go abroad, those at the bottom are net recipients and the rest of us pay.
