I was just about to leave a message for pants, the Spotter of All Incidents During Football Matches. That was exactly what I thought at the time.
Scaloni had the ball under no pressure and was going to clear when he heard Cisse screaming like a girl, looked behind him, pointed at Cisse lying on the deck, and deliberately passed the ball into touch.
After Cisse had had treatment, it was a Liverpool throw. They did throw it back to WHam, but (a) they had compeltely ringed the throw so that there were Liverpool players everywhere (there hadn't been a single one anywhere near Scaloni when he put it out); (b) they threw the ball hard into the ground so it went to the Hammers player bouncing high, difficult to control; and (c) at least one Liverpool player sprinted straight at him. All this forced him to have to clear an awkwardly bouncing ball first time without being able to trap it and control it; his clearance fell to Riisse; he chipped it into the box; it was headed out; and Gerrard wellied it. I thought it was bloody unfair, I really did.
