ultimately though, that's why he's still here. If he was consistently hitting the heights he would have been signed by a big club, as it is, I doubt there's ever been an offer.
He's also not versatile enough to play in different systems. He worked in Farke's 4-2-3-1 with other intricate, players, but unless he's going to get a move to Man City, he can forget playing like that at more or less any other club. Emi was a class apart from Cantwell, and he's not exactly setting the world on fire at Villa - just goes to show the gulf between championship and PL. Particularly from a physicality / pace perspective, which isn't Todd's thing.
Rangers would seem a strange move to me, and unlikely to work out for him. More likely to do well overseas I'd have thought.
Anyway, it's all been said before, good luck to him. I hope he finds what he's looking for.
