It's a risk for Webber's personal stock.

I'm OK with Wagner, given the circles we're moving in. Good overseas coach with excellent Championship credentials.

But the optics aren't straightforward and, again, would be an appointment that rubs against Webber's posturing about always having a plan in place and scouring the globe.

On balance, I think it's reasonable to be optimistic about a Wagner Norwich, but also to have some reservations about the process. A process that will properly bite Webber on the arse if it goes wrong.
