fans were angry. It was slightly illogical given results not to try and build bridges with the fans but I'm not sure that's one of his skills.

Don't relish any manager getting sacked (perhaps Roeder a bit) but I think Smith was appointed in desperation by the board and leaves in desperation by the board. Hopefully a lesson learnt.
