I think Dean Smith suffered from 2 issues

Firstly his better coaches ( as already mentioned) left him to strike out on their own. Frank at Brentford, and the other chap who's name I've forgotten. Shakesy had a good pedigree at Leicester but sure that was more to do with Pearson, think he got a bit lucky.

The second issue, which I think is prob more poignant, is that when he came to us he must have been absolutely burnt out. Both physically and emotionally. The villa gig must have been a poisoned chalice but even more so for a Self confessed villa fan.he prob should have had 6 months out of the game to compose himself. As it was he jumped from the frying pan into the fire.
