Please Help....

why do I get this message everytime I try to add a username

"Your Member Name must be between 3 and 20 characters longs, start and end with a letter or number and only contain letters, numbers, spaces and underscores (_)."

really pissing me off now because it happens whatever I type aaaaaaagggh!!
