I agree with the first part

I really can't understand why people would be offended by it - but clearly some people are.

But I don't agree with the second part; I just think people are much more likely and winning to change their opinions when they feel their concerns (however ridiculous they may seem to be), are being listened to and acknoweldged. Rather than when they are being lectured to and bombarded with gestures designed to be somewhat provocative.
