I met him!

Dad used to work for air Anglia and we were living up in Darlington, he was manager at Teeside airport. James Hunt was flying in from Holland after winning the Dutch Grand Prix on an air Anglia flight so Dad contacted the local press (the northern echo) and got my brother and I out on the tarmac in air Anglia T-shirts to meet James off the plane. He came out of the plane with no socks and shoes on and what we thought was a little bit drunk. I got his autograph which I still have framed on the wall. It was a few years later the dad told us he’d been smoking on the plane and bearing in mind he just come back from Amsterdam…… He wasn’t drunk, he was stoned. Legend.
