On the one hand players do play better around better players

On the other Emi hasn't exactly ripped up trees when not playing around the guys you mentioned.

Replicating that was always going to be fiddly - but Pukki has done well for his country (without Emi)

And I'm not sure that Cantwell's drop in form had anything much to do with Emi.

And Dowell's best games / assists /goals I don't recall being tied to Emi either.

Max and Emi definitely complemented each other's games.

I do agree with you, but only to a point.
