Look. If he’s been how he was last season, and on and off the start of this one, I can imagine the hesitance to offer him a decent contract. He is obviously at the age that he wants his first (relatively) big pay day. But it makes no sense to the club if he’s not showing it.

Maybe he’s realised that it’s mostly within his own control and if he puts on a show like yesterday it’s the only chance of convincing the club to extend, and if they don’t it’s the shop window.
