where there were vicars advising people not to watch it and a couple of well known lads of that time who were coming out (of the cinema) and were sweating and just walked away not speaking. At that time it was the scariest film that had gained a certification and was banned by many councils round the country from being shown. Many people got up and walked out during the screening I saw. I guess now because 'anything goes' it's deemed crap and not so scary particularly due to the amazing advances in special effects and CGI stuff. I'd put young Damian second and Rosemarys Baby a long way off in third.
