but I think that is still, in large part, down to the board. There had been no acknowledgement from the board that they messed up - made poor signings, appointed the wrong manager etc..
No alternative plan has been offered that the fans can get behind. No vision has been put forward about how we can actually do better and progress as a club - and compete in the Premier League in the future. I guess Webber hasn't done so, because it would require some introspection and acknowledgment of how and why we failed so badly last season.
What exactly is there for the fans to get excited about if there is no clear vision of what we're trying to achieve. I think most fans could live with a period of dullish football and some bad results if there was the sense we were building towards something, but neither Webber nor Smith has even hinted at what exactly is the direction and purpose of the club post-Farke.
