Wasn't that anger (and from my vague memory on no greater a level than we see these days when we a drawing 0-0 at half time) toward a specific sequence of events with him promising Sutton would not be sold, then selling him, and then not coughing up part of that for Dean Windass?
That wasn't anything to do with the team or manager at the time. I can't remember people booing Goss for a bad pass for example.
I understand outrage at people running the club who threaten to destroy it. The continued existence of the club is certainly more than a game.
