My only real hope was that Smith's Brentford and (reportedly)

Walsall teams played good attacking football. His time at Villa was far less convincing for me, because they were in a death spiral until Grealish came back from injury, despite also having Mings, Abraham, McGinn etc.

The signings of Hayden, Nunez and Sara also looked promising.

But it now appears that maybe it was his coaching team at Brentford (Frank latterly) that made them play good football.
