The thing about Smith I don't understand is his 433

At Villa and Brentford he had front three with two wide men cutting inside. The likes of El Ghazi, Benrahma, Watkins etc

When he ships up here for pre season here he has Rashica, Tzolis, Placheta and Hernandez as wide options. And decides Hernandez is the only one worth keeping.

He's then left with Sinani, Ramsey, Dowell and Cantwell to cover the wide area's. All of the last 3 are basically number 10s. Sinani probably more of a striker tbh. So just Hernandez as a wide man.

There's no clear vision in what he's trying to achieve here and his decision making on the tactics and the players he rates is very questionable.
