That’s what we were told I seem to recall during the Farke starter season, and then into the first promotion season. I think the 3-0 defeat to Leeds at home was the “noise”. And despite a poor points tally, we were playing really rather well. So ignore the noise, concentrate on the signal.
Things is, we’ve been playing pretty poorly all season, and it’s getting worse, not better. I think we’re lucky to have the points we’ve got. This despite us probably being flattered by playing lots of really s**t teams early in the season. The noise is the points total that flatters. The signal is s**t football, but not just s**t, totally ineffective.
This really is patternless garbage. For the life of me I just cannot see what we’re trying to do. Chopping and changing, different players every week, formations that make no sense, players playing in positions that make them worse not better. Who’s strengths are we actually playing to? We’re setting up to get the most out of….? Nope, no idea. It’s no wonder the players look confused and all the spirit seems to be draining out of the players game by game.
In the summer I felt like the club had come full circle, and that the yo-yo years were over. I called mid table, and for a while results (not performances) made me look like a bit of a Charlie. Smith had been a poor appointment, it feels like Webber has checked out, and there’s a gulf between the club and fans. Webber it seems is going to leave is exactly where he found us. But I suppose we can all watch the soccerbot of the football stays this bad. Maybe weed the vegetable patch.
