We’re caught in the middle

Our players aren’t good enough to beat teams playing possession based intricate football, we’re not going to pass through the middle of good teams (to be fair, we even struggled with that under Farke).

We don’t have fast, athletic forwards that can run at the opposition and hit them on the break.

I totally get what you’re saying about the style and formation being disjointed, but equally I don’t think there are any easy answers. What formation suits both Sargent and Pukki? It’s not 4-3-3 and it’s not 4-2-3-1 either. I think we should think about 4-4-2 or a variant thereof, but that probably makes me a total dinosaur. If we persist with 1 up front, perhaps that should be Sargent.
