It was more banter with a smile than aggressive but that doesn’t excuse him. If a racist or homophobic comment was made in a similar manner it would rightly be condemned.

I would say he should know better but that’s basically the story of the life of Lafferty - 1) he doesn’t know better and 2) he seems assured that he knows better than the rest of us.
