if everyone else is raising rates more than us, and the £ is weaker than it should be as a result, we'll import some additional inflation
But generally agree - the root cause of much of the inflation we're facing won't be affected by the BoE's fiddling, and what the Govt is doing will swamp any positive impact the BoE's fiddling might have.
as one of them said today, BoE and Govt are pulling in very different directions here.
Would not surprise me if the Govt changes the BoE's mandate.
