No doubt it's complicated

And a narrative that everything one side is black, and everything the other is white, is stupidly simplistic.

But what I do know is that last time I voted I had a lot of choices on the ballot paper, and nobody threatened me to vote one way or another. If I want to write to my MP to tell them they're rubbish, or join a protest, I can. I can freely denounce some of the terrible decisions our Govt is taking. And nobody takes me away.

Russians have for years and years had one choice on the ballot paper, and you'd better like it or else. It's clear that if you protest against Vlad then you get stuck in a van, beaten up and taken away. His political opponents fall off a lot of balconies to their death, or spend a lot of time rotting in prison.

I'm looking at that USA, or indeed the UK, through rose tinted spectacles and thinking our leaders are pure spirited and have nothing but world peace in mind as they lead us. The USA is a cesspool of greed. But I know where I'd rather live.

Ultimately, Vlad rolled his tanks into a neighbouring country. That tips the scales pretty far away from moral equivalence in my book, even if I don't believe everything any news organisation tells me. And even though I don't know the first thing about geopolitics.
