As a younger man I was a staunch republican

I didnt advocate for the French method of dealing with the Royal Family, but I did believe that this one family had owned too much of the country's prime assets for a bit too long, and it was about time they were shared out a bit more.

The problem I see now though is quite how badly democracy works. Left to their own devices, it seems that the Great British Public can't help voting for liars and chancers. Let's be honest, if we scrapped the monarchy and created an elected head of state, who do you think is actually going to get the role. It's going to be Boris isn't it, back with his BRILLIANT combination of mild racism, bigotry, little bit Latin and funny mop hair. Awww, he's brilliant isn't he? So funny what he said. He stuck it up Brussels though dintee? And he's right there's too many foreigners here.

Having mused on the thought experiment of abolishing the monarchy vs continuing with it, I'm now pretty sure that King Charles III is almost certainly better than ANYONE that might get elected.
