England squad (again) - just a (probably unoriginal) thought...

Clearly the squad and Sven's statements about J Cole suggest he's gonna play 4 midfielders + Cole and Owen

but also - doesn't it also suggest that he's not even planning to take Rooney?

Drop him out and put Defoe in, and suddenly it all makes more sense - we plan to start with Owen and Cole, but Defoe is there as cover, with Crouch for something different. And Walcott's along for the ride and the experience.

(And Rooney's been named in the provisional squad just 'cos he'd get crucified if he didn't include him.)

Bit depressing, but does make the squad look more sensible....
