You're wrong there on a specific point and i don't totally disagree with you

Byram started the Man City match which I think was the 5th league game. I think Max had come back injured from U21 duty so Sam started 2 games at right back one of which was that monster win where he was good so technically you're wrong but I get your point that it was jnjuries that opened the door which is only fair on the winning team getting a bit at the Premier League.

I genuinely think Byram was signed to challenge for first choice and not as a backup. He'd missed 6 months of the previous season with a knee injury on loan at Forest and obviously he wasn't going straight into the lineup of a winning side but it was obvious when fit (rare I know) that he was heading to be a first choice.
