I just think without the ensuing success, we wouldn't be giving it the massive rose tinting treatment.

You're spot on that whoever followed had an uneviable task. Particularly given that Smith has shown that it's probably the players that aren't up to it rather than managerial issues.

Smith won't ever be as popular as Farke, but that's fine. On the pitch success is all that really matters and all that ever has. Lambert was a bit of a knob even when he was here, but we loved him because of the winning.
