Players play well and are dropped.

Players who have played well at this level, are looking ropey.

I concur that fixing the centre of midfield will be key (this, in turn, is putting pressure on the defence) - what worries me is that players who have previously been effective there have looked progressively worse under whatever system we're trying to implement.

Having our entire success hinging on the unknown quantity of our new signings there (injured or recently recovered) makes my heart sink.
