Since his departure from Carrow Road, he had done the rounds of Norfolk's amateur sides playing with Watton and Dereham Hobbies before joining Thetford as Assistant Manager and then managing Dereham Hobbies. A left back, his man-to -man marking skills were especially admired by managers John Bond and Ken Brown.
