Have been interested to see my (highly ethical in their daily lives) Newcastle supporting buddies perform heroic mental gymnastics to justify what's gone on at the club.

The world of footy finance appears a special case with regard to the real world. Until things go wrong. And then it doesn't.

To that end I have progressively found myself detaching from caring much at club level (at international level almost completely - I feel no attachment to those players or fans).

Tho I did feel a warm glow seeing the women succeed - at the moment their success still feels earned and in the real world. The fans in the stadiums also showed it was possible to support the team without being morons.
