Altho I admit that that might not help my argument....
Farke got sacked because he wasn't able to get them to win in a really tough string of opening fixtures. Possibly with some truly imbecilic reasoning about whether Farke had the skills to manage at the top level.
We've all supported the team for long enough to know that finding the right blend of players can make players who look middling in one system look world beating in another. For example, I thought selling Jackson (our best CB) and running with Fleming and MacKay was bonkers, but the whole was greater than the sum of the parts.
I watch Rashica and Sargent and reckon having someone up top to lay the ball off to them and generate space would help them immeasurably. I think we saw that a bit with Idah before he got injured. Would like to see Pukki and Hugill together up top.
Onel caused problems and made space for other players when he came on. We're missing the magic sauce I completely agree, and the blend of players is all wrong, but I think saying they're all s**te is an easy excuse.
All managers (in any field) usually inherit a team and have to get the best out of them, I just find it concerning that Smith seems to have taken everyone backwards, including the players who had played well previously.
